Elias Vermeer | The World of Eryndor

The World of Eryndor

Elias Vermeer had a turbulent childhood. He lost his father at a young age, leaving him alone with his mother. She was an intelligent and curious woman with a deep love for old maps and forgotten stories. As a child, she had dreamed of exploring the world, but her parents believed there was no future in a life of adventure. She was forced to give up that dream, yet her fascination with the unknown never disappeared.

She passed that love on to her son. Together, they studied old maps, ancient travel journals and legends of lost cities. To Elias, maps became far more than a way to find his path. They became windows into worlds still waiting to be discovered.

When his mother also passed away, Elias’s world collapsed. With no family left, he was placed in an orphanage. Those were difficult years. He was often bullied for being different from the other children. While they played outside, Elias spent hours surrounded by maps, books and stories of unexplored places. He never truly felt at home.

At the orphanage, he met Ruben. For the first time, Elias found someone who shared his fascination with maps, hidden places and ancient legends. The two became inseparable. Together, they would secretly venture out to explore the surrounding area, searching for forgotten ruins, underground passages and clues to lost civilisations.

During one of those expeditions, they discovered a hidden cave. Deep within the darkness, they found something that immediately felt as though it had been concealed there for centuries. They did not understand exactly what it was, but from that moment on, everything changed.

Shortly afterwards, Ruben vanished without a trace.

No one believed Elias when he explained what had happened. The cave was never found again, and Ruben seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth. To the outside world, it became an unsolved mystery. For Elias, it became the turning point of his life.

He refused to believe that his best friend was dead. From that moment forward, his life revolved around a single purpose: uncovering the truth behind Ruben’s disappearance. That search eventually led him to become a mapmaker and explorer. Every forgotten route, every ancient legend and every blank space on a map might bring him one step closer to the answer.

Years later, that same search leads him to Aeterna, a hidden city that appears on no map. Without realising it, Elias takes the first step into an adventure that will not only reveal the truth about Ruben, but forever change the hidden history of Eryndor.
